Great Lake Swimmers – River’s Edge music video

The Toronto, Canada based band Great Lake Swimmers, started in 2001. After a few fairly unnoticed albums, Lost Channels was released and ever since this band is growing rapidly in North America and Europe.

The band, formed by lead singer Tony Dekker, has a folky, indie sound and his voice reminds of R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe. They are signed to mayor label (Weewerk)/Nettwerk. Check this beautiful music video for the new single River’s Edge. The director is Nir Ben Jacob: “About a year ago I stumbled on these old wood-chip plate compositions my late grandfather made. They’re a beautiful example of early Israeli-Yemenite art. As soon as I saw them I knew I had to animate them. They had been in storage for decades so it meant a great deal to bring them out and breathe life into them. This was an opportunity to not only contribute to his work, but also expose it to the audience it never had. It is the official video.”
